Scientific Lead Data Management
(m/f/d)

with a focus on Ophthalmology

Location: Remote work within Germany
Start: Flexible – according to your availability
Working hours: Full-time or part-time (min. 25 hrs/week)

For more than ten years, targomed in Bruchsal has stood for expertise, reliability, and commitment – as a trusted partner for clinical studies and medical writing in ophthalmology.

Shape the future of ophthalmology with us – data-driven, innovative, and meaningful.

Do you have a passion for structured thinking, clinical data, and quality standards? Would you like to contribute your experience in data management while taking the next step – into a responsible position with plenty of scope for shaping processes? Then you’ve come to the right place!

In this key role, you will take on the scientific leadership of our data management department with a clear focus: clinical studies with medical devices in ophthalmology at the highest level.

What you can expect

  • Responsibility with impact – You will lead the data management team scientifically and ensure that our studies run data-driven, compliant, and efficient.
  • Quality meets innovation – You will design CRFs, oversee the correct setup and validation of EDC systems, conduct data-driven plausibility checks, and manage the entire data flow – from entry to database lock.
  • Scientific & practice-oriented – You will work closely with medical writing and study management and accompany the studies from planning through to final data analysis.
  • Room for ideas – You will actively shape standards, processes, and tools – your experience and innovation count!
  • Growth with perspective – You contribute your expertise, share it with others, and continuously develop yourself.

What you should bring

  • Experience in ophthalmology – e.g., through clinical research, study coordination, ophthalmology itself, or related fields.
  • Several years of professional experience in clinical data management – you are familiar with workflows, requirements, and tools (e.g., EDC systems, CRF design, remote data checks).
  • Experience in clinical query management and the management of SAEs, AEs, DDs, PDs.
  • Creation and adaptation of MS Excel–based tools for data analysis and plausibility checks.
  • Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken – for documentation, communication, and international collaboration with colleagues and clients.
  • Confident handling of MS Excel; additional knowledge of R, SPSS, or SAS is a plus.
  • A structured, customer-oriented, and quality-conscious way of working – and enthusiasm for taking responsibility.
  • Whether with an academic degree or via a career change: if you have experience in clinical data management and a strong understanding of ophthalmological study data, you are a perfect fit for us.

What we offer

  • Scope for shaping in a key position – actively influence structures and developments rather than just administering.
  • Flexibility in working hours – full-time or part-time, adapted to your life situation.
  • Location-independent work – remote within Germany possible.
  • A culture of appreciation – enjoy a collegial team with flat hierarchies.
  • Exciting interdisciplinary projects – closely linked to medicine and science.
  • Personal and professional development – we provide the space for sustainable growth.
